Update: PLAI Regional Council Blogs

Last January 25, 2007, we noted the existence of PLAI Regional Council Blogs and today we would like to add to that list. The PLAI-Bicol Region Librarian Council blog was operational last September 28, 2007 during their Seminar Workshop on “Developing Competencies of Librarians / Information Specialists for Quality Service”. We are glad to learned that new posts are available after a hiatus of more than one year.

The 5th Regional Council with blog presence is PLAI-Zamboanga Peninsula (Zamboanga Peninsula Region Librarian Council) which we learned of their existence thru its Council President Benhur Asid during the PLAI National Congress in Davao City. Just like PLAI-STRLC blogs, PLAI-ZamPen has blogspot and wordpress presence with October 23, 2008 as the earliest posting date of entries.

We hope the other eleven (11) Regional Council of PLAI will have their online presence soon.

Prof. Thelma S. Kim Presentation

The PLAI-BRLC (PLAI-Bicol Region Librarian’s Council) already uploaded the powerpoint presentation (in slideshare format) of Prof. Thelma S. Kim entitled “Public Relations and Marketing Skills for Librarians” delivered during the Seminar-Workshop on “Developing Competencies of Librarians / Information Specialists for Quality Service” held last September 29, 2007 at Aquinas University Gymnasium, Rawis, Legazpi City.” (Thank you for uploading it).

The increasing number of uploaded presentation/paper delivered in seminars/conferences/fora in the sponsoring institution/association website will definitely alter the way CPE (Continuing Professional Education) are being conducted in the country at least initially among librarians.

BFL in coordination with PLAI, being the accredited & recognized national association of librarian by PRC must see to it that sponsoring library association/institution submit the list of seminar/conference/forum participants at least one week after said activity for reference and authentication purposes of attended CPE of the librarians. The national association must also issue clear policy or guideline on this regard and develop form(s) [template] to fill-up that will help to speed-up the documentation process of any librarian association activity.

NOTE: Sorry for the delayed uploading. Encountered technical problem that until now I am clueless why it’s taking so long “uploading video … your video will appear here when finished” . This was supposed to be a liveblogging article last September 29 but until today uploading the video is not yet finish. Since I am still too exhausted from the travel back to Laguna & cannot wait & experiment for another day when it will be finished, decided to delete it and re-upload the video observing the same procedures used the first time. Luckily it works this time after several attempts (tried copying the video in the cpu when attempt to upload from digicam failed) … what went wrong during the first, second, third attempts of this deleting/re-uploading video last September 29? Glad to hear an explanation from anyone.

Prof. Thelma S. Kim received the Plaque of Appreciation and token from Stephanie “Stef” Granatin (Bicol University) and Rose “Bing” Ante (Aquinas University of Legazpi). Prof. Kim talked about “Public Relations and Marketing Skills for Librarians” where an e-copy of her presentation as well as those of other resource speakers will be available/uploaded at the PLAI-BRLC weblog shortly.
